Copping Out on Gun Control

Jennifer Jenkins   Florida Correspondent

Giuliani took a decidedly more moderate stance on gun control than other Republican candidates--much to the dismay of the audience, which booed him until he paused. Overall, his position reflected his expereince as mayor of a major city. Giuliani did, however, concede that some gun control laws are ineffective. He left it to the Supreme Court to decide what is and what isn't constitutional under the Second Amendment. The audience seemed to disagree, booing him until he paused. Regarding a related issue, inner-city crime, Romney did not mention gun control, but instead said that we should "get more moms and dads" -- he remained unspecific regarding how to address the lack of traditional nuclear families among inner-city residents. Giuliani retorted, citing that the murder rate and burglary rate rose while Romney was governor.
