The Foreign Policy Question
Meghan Louttit Managing EditorThis is one of the significant issues where Clinton and Obama have notable differences in their proposed policies.
Clinton's experience in foreign policy is where she can really trump Obama in this debate. And she is.
When Obama speaks about foreign policy he talks mostly about Clinton's judgment about going to war, which he denounced in a speech in 2002, and about his policy towards Pakistan. Clinton uses this opportunity to bring up other issues she's worked on, including peace talks in Northern Ireland.
When it comes to Iraq, Tim Russert poses a very plausible scenario for Iraq's reaction to the withdrawal of troops. Obama acknowledges that he would respect the wishes of the sovereign nation, as does Clinton.
Russert's hypothetical eerily reminds me of Brit Hume's nuclear doomstay scenarios posed during earlier FOX debates.
