Free Trade?

Prateek Kumar   International Editor

So here we go bringing Free Trade into the debate. Obama seems to get a strong response for his opposition to CAFTA, and more importantly, for arguing that the United States should deal with China's economic policies.
The Democrats have gained momentum in recent years with playing against the pure style of free trade that the Republicans continue to push. They've been taking cue cards from former Fed Governor Alan Blinder, who has come out in favor of placing certain restrictions on free trade.
Considering that the Bush Administration has been fervently in support of free trade and has used tools like "fast-track" legislation, it will be interesting to see how the Democrats frame the free trade debate in the general election.
