Meghan Louttit Managing EditorClinton probably should have just kept her mouth shut.
Russert questioned Obama about whether or not he would reject the endorsement of Louis Farrakhan, an Islamic leader who is strongly anti-semitic. After Obama answered, repeating his support for Israel and defending his pro-Jewish credentials, Clinton jumped in and insisted on adding her own story. Her story revolved around her 2000 Senate run where she "stood on principle" and rejected the support of an openly anti-semitic political party in the state of New York - seeming to suggest that Obama wasn't being strong enough on the issue.
What resulted were trite remarks on where there is a difference between "rejecting" and "denouncing" an endorsement. Ironic that this is what caused an outburst of applause from the audience. In the end, Clinton simply looks petty.
