The Scoop08 is the first-ever daily national student newspaper. Part of a network of hundreds of young people across the nation - and counting - Scoop08 correspondents and commentators are dedicated to providing in-depth and innovative coverage of the 2008 presidential election. And there is still room for you.
The race, after all, is unprecedented. The interest it has generated on high school and college campuses across America is extraordinary. Young people are excited to move forward, and they are willing - perhaps for the first time in a while - to care.
As volunteers, editors and reporters are not interested in turning a profit through their work. Therefore, the Scoop08 incorporated this summer as a not-for-profit entity called Scoop Media, Inc. with the pro bono legal assistance of Weil, Gotshal & Manges. Its website will be designed by Winterhouse, a prominent New York design firm. And its advisory board of prominent and cutting-edge reporters, politicians, consultants and thinkers will help maintain the highest journalistic standards.
In an April column lauding the Scoop08 experiment, William F. Buckley Jr. said that what "especially attracts attention" is the "arrant boldness of the venture." He added: "At least Henry Luce and Briton Hadden waited until they were 23 to launch their revolution. And the idea is engrossing. A Rhetoric Correspondent to check every speech by Hillary Clinton or Mitt Romney, a Democracy Correspondent outside the door of Barack Obama, a Policy Correspondent listening in to the late-night contributions of Rudy Giuliani. All under the guidance of Scoop editors at high schools and colleges across the nation."
